Do the World Cup teams have players that normally play on other teams within their league? For instance, Mexico may have a few players from Club America, a few from Chivas, from Toluca etc. ?
And then until the World Cup, they come together for the qualifying rounds and then play the rest of the time on their regular teams?
Players in a national team do not necessarily have to play for leagues in their own country. Some of the best South American players (for example – most of the Brazilian team and Argentina players like Messi and Tevez) are in European leagues for the season and when the time comes for international games they get called to be on the national team for those games and then go back with their respective teams.
The only requirement is they be naturalized citizens in the country they play for. Most choose to play for their country of birth, but others choose to become citizens and play for another country, like Giuseppi Rossi who was born in the USA but plays for Italy or Benny Feilhaber who was born in Brasil but plays for USA.
Hope that helps to answer your question.

Are each nation’s team made up of actual natives (passport holders) of that particular country for the World Cup? I noticed that many players on national teams play for other countries in non-world cup games. Seems weird because the teams wouldn’t be playing with each other for long. How long do the team members have to get used to playing with each other?
Explain.
Thanks in advance
(BTW: wasn’t the Germany v. Poland game (6/14) so exciting!?! The best!)
Thanks! I like that the teams must be made up of nationals. Makes rooting for the teams more fun.
The teams are comprised of passport holders of the nation they represent. There is no player playing for a different country. What you may see is a player that belongs to a club in another country, but not the national team.
You are correct, they don“t get to practice together for too long, usually a couple of months. That is why they have as many friendly matches against other countries as they can.

Italy and Saudi Arabia are made up mostly of native born players(Italy has only one naturalized player), while other teams use mainly naturalized players.
I think its good for a World Cup team to have a mix of players, some who are native, and others who are non-native. The jersey you wear doesn’t have as much importance as the player whos wearing the jerseys skill. Plus, most countrys are multi-cultured so having players of different backrounds on each team is a more realistic representation of each country anyways
